DJI announces the Mini 3 Pro: the new miniature drone par excellence

On Tuesday, May 10, DJI returned to the forefront with a brand new drone: the DJI Mini 3 Pro. Still as miniature and light as ever, this model logically comes with better features than the previous generation. In particular, it offers the possibility of filming in 4K/60 FPS, the ActiveTrack feature, obstacle detection in three directions or the 90° rotation of the pod for a flight autonomy of more than 30 minutes.

The Chinese brand DJI, leader in the field of consumer and professional drones offers its new iteration of its miniature device: the DJI Mini 3 Pro. The new model pushes the envelope and succeeds in miniaturizing the impossible: increasing the quality of the lens to offer a flawless image while increasing the flight time to 34 minutes.

Discovering the DJI Mini 3 Pro

DJI announces the Mini 3 Pro: the new miniature drone par excellence - Drone EmotionLet’s start the presentations. The DJI Mini 3 Pro is first of all ultra light. Indeed, it weighs only 249 grams. In terms of size, the brand assures that the drone benefits from the same compactness with its foldable format as the other models in the range. Thus, these two factors allow to take the product everywhere.

In the details, a press release highlights that this new drone embeds a “completely new structural design, allowing several improvements in terms of performance”. DJI specifies that the Mini 3 Pro has arms and propellers adjusted for a “more aerodynamic flight extending the flight time”, including dual optical sensors located at the front and rear to expand the detection range of the drone. We also learn that the pod has been “completely reworked” to offer more camera angles with “tilt and vertical movements for shooting”.

The novelties do not stop there. Indeed, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is the first model in the Mini range to take advantage of a three-way obstacle detection system. This technological advance is due to the presence of front and rear optical sensors, but also under the drone. They also have the APAS 4.0 system to detect and automatically find a safer path around obstacles in flight. They also offer the Focus Track feature to automatically follow a person and integrate it into the center of the frame during the flight.

On the camera front, the DJI Mini 3 Pro features a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with dual native ISO with an f/1.7 aperture. Among other things, it allows you to take photos up to 48MP and shoot videos in 4K/60 FPS. The drone can rotate the camera 90 degrees to offer vertical shots. Note that HDR video recording is available in 30 frames per second maximum. As for digital video zoom, it is x2 in 4K, x3 in 2.7K and 4x in Full HD. DJI also explains that this product has “better imaging performance, with 2.4 μm pixels that capture even more detailed images, especially handy in low light or night conditions.”

The autonomy in flight of the drone is 34 minutes. However, the Intelligent Flight Plus battery allows you to enjoy more minutes of flight. Indeed, this accessory allows to reach 47 minutes of flight. Last but not least, DJI announces to extend its range of radio controls with the DJI RC, a radio control for the DJI Mini 3 Pro with an integrated touch screen of 5.5 inches.

What are the features of the new Dji Mini 3 Pro drone?

DJI announces the Mini 3 Pro: the new miniature drone par excellence - Drone EmotionLet’s start with the dimensions of the drone. The DJI Mini 3 Pro is very compact and easy to carry, measuring only 145 x 90 x 62 mm when folded. When unfolded, it measures 171 x 245 x 62 mm (251 x 362 x 70 mm with propellers). Like its predecessor, its weight is under 240 g.

It is equipped with a new 64 MP camera with larger 2.4 μm pixels and an f/1.7 aperture for better aerial photography by day and night. This 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor is capable of shooting 4K at 60 fps. The security part has also received great care.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro has sensors located at the front, rear and bottom that allow it to offer APAS functionality, a three-axis obstacle detection system. This allows the drone to avoid obstacles, even in complex environments.

With the FocusTrack feature, block a subject in the camera lens for automatic tracking. Finally, the DJI Mini’s standard battery offers 34 minutes of battery life and the second “Plus” battery offers 47 minutes of endurance. The two combined allow you to achieve over an hour and 20 minutes of flight time.

Fly with confidence with its obstacle detector

Marvel at the rich clarity of 4K video at 60 frames per second that can capture 48-megapixel photos. Mini 3 Pro features a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with an f/1.7 aperture for HDR shooting. These features are usually found in much larger and more expensive models.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro, as mini as it is functional, combines power and portability. It offers increased safety through its three-way obstacle detection. This ensures safe flight while filming your subject with features like FocusTrack or MasterShots.
